August 12, 2009 – Day 17: Seward Bay to Anchorage – 126.69 Miles
- Moose Pass
I got up early and dressed for the day’s ride. No rain gear today, it was dry, sunny and warmer than it had been any day since I entered Alaska. I took off and started stopping to shoot almost immediately. I stopped every chance I could and shot everything I had a chance to shoot. Even with all the shooting stops I still entered Anchorage around 2:00pm.
I stopped by the Anchorage Harley-Davidson Dealership “House of Harley-Davidson,” picked up a t-shirt, and headed for my hotel, the Millennium. I checked into my room and grabbed my camera. I had seen a float plane landing on the lake behind the hotel on my way in, I thought I would investigate further. Turns out there’s an airport on the lake for floatplanes. As I strolled around the lake and checked the planes out I grabbed a few shots of the action.
- Sixmile Creek
After my stroll, I had dinner and an Alaskan Amber, one of my favorites from my tasting a few days earlier. After dinner I adjourned to the patio for the evening’s cigar and then it was off to check the bike and hit the sack, eager to see what tomorrow would bring.
