National Parks May Have Shutdown, but We Haven’t

The government shutdown may be keeping us from visiting our National Parks, but you can see them here.

National Parks, Politicians, and Shutdowns

Since our politicians wont let us visit our National Parks until they figure out how to run the Government (don’t hold your breath on that one) you can visit them here.  As for the politicians, if they were required to live by the laws they create, and they were the first to not be paid during a shutdown, well, I doubt this particular issue would even exist.

Images for Sale!

The other day I had a client ask me if I ever sold prints of my images to the public.  I was sort of floored when he ask me the question, but it got me to thinking.  In case anyone out there is wondering, we sell prints of all my images in standard and custom sizes, on several grades of paper.  Starting today we will be showcasing images from our stock collection. Every image shown is available for purchase.  If you don’t want to wait for the images to appear here you can visit the gallery of our website at: www.cfrphotographic.com.  Everything in the gallery is for sale.

Going to the Sun in Glacier National Park

Glacier National Park is always a breath taking experience.  This little ditty was shot from the “Going to the Sun Road” during a bike trip to Alaska and back.  Wow!  What a place.

Mt.Shasta, 2008

The air was brisk, a little too brisk actually, all right, it was cold, real cold.  But I’d weathered worse during the past 28 days.  I was on my way home from Alaska and a little cold air wasn’t about to throw me off my schedule.  I was running down the 97 out of Klamath Falls, headed for Lassen National Park.  I saw a pull out up ahead, and decided to pull over, light a cigar, and warm my bones for a while in the rising sun.  Couldn’t let this shot of the mighty Mt. Shasta pass me by, or as the Karuk’s call it, Uytaahkoo, which means “White Mountain.”

Shasta-2008After a couple of shots, and the beginning of a good cigar, it was back on the bike and down the road.  The day was young and I had a lot of miles yet to cover.

Parker Dam

Built between 1934 and 1938, Parker Dam sits on the border between Arizona and California.  Known for being the deepest dam in the world, the concrete arch-gravity dam stands 320 feet high, 235 feet of which are actually below the riverbed.  The dam creates the reservoir known as Lake Havasu, capable of storing over 210 billion US gallons of water.
